5 Ways an Energy Healing Session is a Collaborative Experience

Learning that criticism is simply an opportunity takes courage.

When I think I am going to be criticized I feel myself tense up, and my solar plexus start pounding like crazy, and I just want to do anything to escape my body.

This awful sensation is such a great opportunity for love and insight.

Recently, I had a very respectful e-mail informing me that the way I was describing my energy healing sessions as ‘cleaning you up’ was distasteful to her.

And of course, I felt myself go into a habitual response of shame and self-disdain, but I took a deep breath and responded that I wanted to learn more.

Even though my body was uncomfortable, I could see there was an opportunity to see where my communication wasn’t being clear about what it means to have an energy healing session with me.

This is really important.

Energy healing is a very tactile experience for me. I know what is going on in my body when I am assisting someone in healing congested energy that is no longer needed in their system, but describing in words the actual process is kind of on the difficult side of things.

But I really want to try.

Recently, I have been using the language, “clean you up’ because of my real desire to see people have less cluttered energy fields and chakras.

However, through my discussion with the woman who didn’t resonate with this language of ‘cleaning you up’ what I learned is that by saying “I” clean “you” up I am really missing the fact that the healing process is super collaborative.

I don’t really believe I am doing the healing to anybody.

We are doing the healing work together.

It is a a joint manifestation that myself and a client have come together at that moment, in that place. It is a beautiful symbiotic relationship that we have chosen to do healing work together.

And all the healing work that actually occurs is the client’s self-manifestation. The client has set the intention to heal in a certain way and that is what is directing the subtle discernment I make during the sessions.

Here are 5 ways that an energy healing session is a collaborative experience:

#1.The client schedules the session

First of all the client schedules a session. The client chooses that they want to explore the energy healing process, and it is this willingness that allows an energy healing to occur.

#2. Manifestation of the client’s healing journey

Everything I pick up in the energy field and chakras has become available because of the self-awareness work the client has done. Our pain and trauma sits in layers in our system, and it is our own willingness and intention that allows these layers to become available for healing. Any congested energy that is ready to be cleared is only ready because of the self-love work the client has already done. I am like the cleaner that comes in at the end of the party and vacuums up. But really, we vacuum up together.

The client’s willingness is an essential aspect of the energy healing, so really we clean up the energetic system together.

It just looks like the healer is doing all the work because it is their hands and body that is moving. But don’t be fooled. The client is doing just as much work through their availability of mind and spirit.

3. Sets the priority at the beginning of the session

All of the energy healing sessions I provide begin with a chance to talk. I ask the client to set the priorities for the session ahead. I think people are the experts of their lives. Only you know what it is like to live in your own body and mind, and you know what would help you feel better much more then I do. This priority setting by the client is where the client really becomes empowered and can steer the session to get what they need.

4. Interacts with feedback

Of course, as energy healers we pick up a lot of information in the energy field and chakras that we choose to share for the benefit of the client. There is an opportunity for interaction here. The client can give clarification, ask for more information or request deeper healing if the area feels raw and in need of love.

5. Continues healing process long after session is over

An energy healing session is just a blip in time in terms of the healing journey.

The healing work keeps going on long after the energy healing session is over.

It is important that the client take responsibility for this healing journey. The energy healer didn’t do something ‘to you’ instead they entered a process with you, a process that belongs to you. Continuing to make self-love and self-awareness a priority is a very good place to start.
