A Note for Difficult Times

Sometimes we have a collective week that just really sucks.

This has been one of those weeks.

As I scroll through social media I am feeling my own heart ache as I observe the people I love and care about feeling pummeled by their broken hearts as the world around them does not reflect the world they want to live in.

Over the last few days this has had me reflecting on what type of internal position I want to stand in while the external world becomes rockier then I would ever want it to be.

What I am seeing is that all through the American election I embraced a type of optimistic fantasy land.

I grabbed on to a false belief that everything would work out in the end, not because that belief reflects the reality of the planet I live on, but because this is how I want it to be.

Because for any of us who have lived on this planet for more then a few years knows things don’t always work out.

What I have learned from my meditation practice is that we just have to hold it all.

We have to hold the uncertainty, the fear, the unknown, the hope, the craving, the love, the broken-heartedness, the inspiration and the worry about everything at the same time with a softness and openness that only comes with patience and practice.

Because we don’t know what is going to happen to this world of ours.

We couldn’t have predicted the outcomes this week and we can’t predict the outcomes that will happen next week.

Everything changes and everything can and will change at any time.

This reality can be very uncomfortable for many of us, unless we change our mental and energetic position and make it more comfortable by coming into the flow of life instead of fighting the current.

Our mental, emotional and spiritual state vastly affect our well-being and the well-being of the earth we live on.

So, yes, we need to stand in love, but not with blinders on, not in a false optimism of ignoring the pain and suffering that we have all become aware of this week.

Yes, we need to stand for justice, but not at the risk of blaming, shaming and ridiculing others.

Most of all, we need to take care of our own beings. Becoming full of negativity, fear and despair is the best way to manifest exactly what we wish the world would avoid.

The question each of us needs to ask ourselves is;How can I stand in the authentic love of my being? How can I let my despair fuel a vision for a better world without making anything inside of my own being or outside of my own the being the enemy?

In my experience it takes a little experimentation to find this alignment.

It takes some wiggling around with our own mental attitude and energetic willingness to find the place that isn’t avoidance and isn’t lashing out, but instead a real willingness to keep our energy with the planet we live on instead of running away, and  to continue to participate even when things are difficult.

This is what meditation teaches us to do.

If you feel like over this week you have become overwhelmed by the collective pain please reach out to me. I have guided meditations, online courses, LIVE calls, upcoming workshops and one-on-one sessions that are designed to help you come back to your own authentic energy alignment so you can participate in your life from an alignment of well-being and willingness instead of fear and despair

Much love to you all and stay safe!

Ruth

ps… I am listening to Leonard Cohen on repeat this morning. How I loved and will always love that man!
